Washtenaw Community College (WCC) is a community college on a 285-acre campus in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It dates to January 1965, when Washtenaw County voters approved a millage to fund a countywide college. Classes began in September 1966 in temporary quarters near Willow Run. More than 1,200 students enrolled in 30 occupational programs and a transfer curriculum. The college moved to East Huron River Drive in 1970. Today, more than 18,000 students take credit classes each year, and thousands more join its Economic and College Development classes. More than 1,000 students come from over 100 countries. A publicly elected seven-member Board of Trustees governs the college. Admission to the college does not guarantee a place in a program, and health programs have their own competitive criteria.
