Virginia Western Community College is a public two-year college in Roanoke, Virginia. It is part of the Virginia Community College System. The college opened in 1966 with 1,352 students. Today it enrolls more than 9,000 credit students on a 70-acre campus on Colonial Avenue. It serves Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. Virginia Western offers more than 100 programs across four schools: Business, Technology and Trades; Health Professions; Liberal Arts and Social Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. It also teaches at off-campus sites such as the Claude Moore Education Complex and the Greenfield Education and Training Center. SACSCOC accredits the college to award associate degrees.
