Triton College is a public community college in River Grove, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago. It serves Illinois Community College District 504, which covers 25 towns and villages in Cook County. Voters approved the district in 1964, and classes began in 1965 at local high schools. The name honors the three high school districts it first served: Elmwood Park, Leyden, and Proviso Township. Today the college sits on a 110-acre campus with the Cernan Earth and Space Center and a botanical garden. Triton offers more than 130 degrees and certificates, including associate degrees for transfer and career programs. Partner universities deliver bachelor's degrees on campus through its University Center. More than 17,000 students attend each year, and Triton is a Hispanic-Serving Institution.
