In 2009, Jay announced his retirement, but he quickly returned to the spotlight with a prime-time chat program titled "The Jay Leno Show."  NBC began airing the program on weeknights in September 2009; however, it was canceled in January 2010.  Jay then caused a national outcry when he reclaimed his position as host of "The Tonight Show" in 2010, pushing aside his replacement, Conan O'Brien.
